Choosing the Right Finish

With 5 basic finishes to choose from this can be a difficult task.

  • Flat finish: Great for large walls, ceiling areas, powder rooms and halls. This is a non-reflective, durable finish. It hides imperfections well and holds up to occasional cleaning.
  • Eggshell finish: Has the low sheen of an eggshell. There is a slight hint of shine or gloss. It's great for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and dens. It holds up better to cleaning than flat.
  • Satin finish: Has a smooth, velvety look. Is easy to clean and has a moderate sheen. Great for windows, doors, trims, ceilings, kid's bedroom walls, kitchens, bathrooms, and any other high traffic areas. Holds up well to cleaning and scrubbing.
  • Semi-gloss finish: Has a subtle sheen. Is great for doors, trims, and cabinets. Easily cleaned and durable.
  • Gloss finish: Has an almost reflective quality, mimicking enamel or plastic. Great for kitchens and bathroom walls, cabinets, trim, and furniture, as well as high traffic areas. Is the toughest finish and is easy to clean.
Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors are quickly becoming the flooring of choice for active familys and homeowners.  Laminate flooring mimics the look of a traditional wood or stone floor while Laminate Flooringoffering lasting durability.  Hallways, foyers and family spaces, bathrooms, and kitchens are all suitable candidates for laminate flooring.  Laminates are made to handle the rigors of an active home.

Another not well known benefit of laminate flooring is that it is great if you have allergies.  It does not hold in dust mites, dander, pet hair, dirt and other pollutants like carpet does, and it can be cleaned easily to remove particles that could cause an allergic reaction.  In fact when you spill something on your laminate flooring, you can wipe it up with out leaving a spot that attracts dirt, like carpet.

Stu's Remodeling is a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor in the State of Arizona.
License # 240095 Bond # RSB1-134365

What does licensed and bonded mean?
To obtain a contractors license in the state of Arizona, contractors must pass a business management test and possibly a trade test, depending upon the type of construction performed. Contractor’s work history and experience must be listed and many license classifications require a specified length of experience. As part of the licensing process a bond must be issued to obtain a license.

Are there any benefits when using a licensed contractor?
Yes, it is a common myth that unlicensed contractors are cheaper than those who are licensed. Since unlicensed contractors are not bonded there is little remedy if the unlicensed contractor fails to complete the job or do repairs. The unlicensed contractor could end up costing you substantially more in the long run. Contracting without a license is a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $2,500 fine and 6 months in prison. It should be noted that conviction of a second offense within a two year period could be designated a felony punishable by 1-1/2 years in prison and up to a $150,000 fine.
